So Many Horse Shows & a Wedding!
We apologize for not updating the Bekley News page regularly this summer, but it's been once busy year! The Beckley crew has been on the rode just about every weekend, and in addition to being gone, Jesse and Dee tied the knot on September 10th, in between horse shows! It was a beautiful wedding and a beautiful day at Three Bars Ranch, and it was so nice to get together with family and friends to celebrate.

WEST COAST CLASSIC, JULY 14-17, CHILLIWACK, BC
What a great show this was! It was the first time out for some of the futurity horses, and Jesse rode Ten Reasons to a score of 144 for the reserve spot in the Open Futurity. Jesse and Pepinic Whiz (owned by Rhonda and Gib Thompson) took third spot with a 142.5. Jillian Hamming took the reserve championship in the Non-Pro Futurity.


Jesse and Siners Lena Oak (owned by Larry & Gaylene Smith) took the reserve spot in the NRHA Open and was third on Karola Radler's gelding - Nifty Tivito.
In the NRHA Non-Pro, David Goodchild and his new mare Colonels Smokin Oak, threw down a great run, scoring a 146 to take the Championship. Jeff Beckley and his gelding, Nestles Chic took third place with a 143.
The Beckley clan dominated the Non-Pro Derby - David Goodchild took home the Championship in the NRHA Non-Pro Derby with a score of 144.5, Jeff Beckley and Jillian Hamming tied for second with a score of 143.5 and Marilyn Copland and Zins Whiz Kid took 4th with a score of 142.
In the Open Derby Jesse and Nifty Tivito had an electrifying run, marking a 148 to tie for the reserve spot.

REININ IN THE SUN, JULY 28-30, ARMSTRONG, BC
It's been a while since the Beckley barn as been to the Armstrong show, but this year they decided to head there with a trailer load of horses. Jesse and The Crown Jewels (owned by George McIvor) scored a 144.5 to take top honors and win the Open Futurity. Pat Eggie and Cruzin in Starlight were the reserve champions in the Non-Pro Futurity.



Marilyn Copland and Zins Whiz Kid took the reserve championship in the Limited Non-Pro.
Jesse and David Goodchild's mare, Miss Taylor Starbuck were the reserve champions in the NRHA Open and also the NRHA Open Derby. Jesse and GIb & Rhonda Thompson's mare, Whizabeth, took third place in the Open Derby.
SILVER SLATE REINING, AUG 11-14, STAVELY, AB
This show was a bit tricky - Jesse had to be in two places at once. He drove down to the show on the Thursday, came back to Cranbrook Friday night to stand up in a wedding Saturday, then drove back to Stavely Sunday morning to show in the Futurity. Jesse and Pepinics Whiz (owned by Rhonda & Gib Thompson) took the reserve Championship in the Open Futurity. Jeff Beckley and his gelding, Buddy, took the reserve championship in the Non-Pro Futurity. Another great weekend for the Beckley crew.
BIG SKY CLASSIC, AUG 17-21, KALISPELL, MT
One of our favorite shows of the year, the Big Sky Classic has great stalls, big show arena and good warm-up. Jesse Beckley and Nifty Tivito had an awesome run, marking a 150 to take the Reserve Championship!
RA FALL CLASSIC, SEPT 1-4, RED DEER, AB
The weekend before the Beckley wedding, Jesse and Jeff headed to Alberta for the Reining ALberta Fall Classic. Jesse and Pepinics Whiz took third place in the Open Futurity and Jeff Beckley and Buddy took the Reserve Championship in the Non-Pro Futurity.


Jesse and Shiners Lena Oak (owned by Gaylene & Larry Smith) claimed the Novice Horse Open Championship with a score of 146.5.
HIGH ROLLER REINING CLASSIC, SEPT 11-18
We managed to squeeze this horse show in. Jesse and Dee got married on the Satuday and then flew the next day to Vegas for the High Roller Classic. Jeff Beckley and George McIvor got up early Sunday monring and drove the horses down. It was well worth the trip! Jesse and Ten Reasons too the Intermediate Open Reserve Championship in the Open Futurity and placed 8th in the Open Futurity. Jeff Beckley and Buddy were the Reserve Champions in the Level 2 Non-Pro Futurity and 4th in the Non-Pro Futurity.
Jesse and Mizzen Whizzen placed in the top 11 in the Intermediate Open Derby.

2011 NRBC OPEN FINIALIST
Jesse Beckley and Mizzen Whizzen made the 40 hour drive to Houston, Texas worth the effort by qualifing for the Open Derby. Jesse and Mizzen (owned by Marilyn Copland), qualified for both the Open and Level 3 finalswith a score of 223.5. The team did not disappoint all the Canadians watching online Saturday afternoon with another great run in the finals, marking a 220. Watch for the two of them in Oklahoma at the Derby this summer.

The Cactus Classic was the debut for Jeff Beckley as a non-pro with Jeff and his 4 yr old Nestles Chic placing in the Derby & Intermediate Derby. The big plus was the much appreciated Sunshine in March!
TWO HORSES TWO FINALISTS! 2010 High lights
Congratulations to Jesse Beckley and Juanna Big Chex, owned by Marilyn Copland, on making the Open Level 1 & 2 Futurity Finals. Congratulations to Jaime Demott and her mare Sheza Chic Olena on making the Intermediate Non-Pro finals! Great show and a great way to finish 2010. ! Juanna Big Chex is now settled into her new home in France and will be showing in the European shows while Sheza Chic Olena is competing in the US Derby's under her new owner.
September 2010 High Roller Reining Classic in Las Vegas. Jesse showed Marilyn Copland's mare Juanna Big Chex aka "Chexy" in the Open Futurity. This was only Chexy's second time out and she was great! The team ended up taking 4th in the Limited, 5th in the Intermediate and 8th in the Open for a total of $4500! Watch for Chexy and Jesse at the NRHA Futurity in November. July Beckley gang headed to Chilliwack, BC for the West Coast Classic. This show proved to be worth the drive, heading home Sunday with a trailer full of prizes! In the Open Futurity Jesse Beckley piloted Marilyn Copland's mare Juanna Big Chex to a 145 to take the reserve championship. Jeff Beckley and his gelding Nestles Chic took third spot in the Open Futurity with a 143. Click here to see Jesse & "Chexy's" futurity run.
In the Open Derby it was all mare power. Jesse and Marilyn Copland's 5-year-old mare Mizzen Whizzen drew up third. With several months off prior to the show due to embryo transfers being done in Texas, Mizzen never missed a beat. Laying down fast stylish circles, hard turns and huge stops, this mare was at the top of her game. With an unbelievable score of 153 Mizzen and Jesse took home the Open Derby Championship.
