July News
Last weekend the Beckley gang headed to Chilliwack, BC for the West Coast Classic. Ths show proved to be worth the drive, heading home Sunday with a trailer full of prizes! In the Open Futurity Jesse Beckley piloted Marilyn Copland's mare Juanna Big Chex to a 145 to take the reserve championship. Jeff Beckley and his gelding Nestles Chic took third spot in the Open Futurity with a 143. Click here to see Jesse & "Chexy's" futurity run.
In the Open Derby it was all mare power. Jesse and Marilyn Copland's 5-year-old mare Mizzen Whizzen drew up third. With several months off prior to the show due to embryo transfers being done in Texas, Mizzen never missed a beat. Laying down fast stylish circles, hard turns and huge stops, this mare was at the top of her game. With an unbelievable score of 153 Mizzen and Jesse took home the Open Derby Championship. Click here to watch Mizzen & Jesse's Open Derby run.
Jesse's Non-Pro crew also had a successful show with placings in the Rookie, Prime Time and Non-Pro. Congratulations to all! Next show on the list is the Silverslate FUturity & Stakes in Claresholm, AB. Hope to see you all there!
Beckley Reining would like to congratulate Cam Bearden and agent Jared LeClair on the purchase of 3-year-old stallion BL Dream Whiz aka "Dexter" (BL Whiz Kid x Doc Otoe Chant). Look for this great team at the major futurities this fall!
Beckley Reining is pleased to announce the purchase of their first breeding stud, Hesa Smart Chic. Beckley Reining and Southline Quarter Horses partnered together to purchase "Friendly', a proven son of Smart Chic Olena, this spring. Friendly is a 1995 sorrel stallion with a wide blaze (looks just like his dad) and is out of the mare Banjoes Playgirl. His lifetime earnings are $50,000+ and offspring earnings in excess of $100,000 NRHA with only 9 foals and another $36,000 in the reined cow horse events. In 1998 Heza Smart Chic tied for 3rd at the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City in the NOn-Pro Futurity. In 1999 Friendly took the Non-Pro Derby Championship at the NRBC. We are proud to bring this proven stallion to Canada. His first Canadian foals will hit the ground spring of 2011.
